Hours: Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Flexibility is required, as evening and weekend work may be required to support community engagement, planned events, and crisis response.
Wage: $27 to $30 per hour, depending on experience

Leq’á:mel First Nation (LFN) is located 22 kilometres east of Mission. LFN continues to assert its inherent rights of self-government over its Territory, which covers a vast area of the Lower Mainland. LFN has approximately 800 Leq’á:mel Xwélmexw (People) and is governed by Chief and Council through its Custom Election Code. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of Leq’á:mel culture and traditions, or a willingness to learn.

About the Role

Leq’á:mel First Nation is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-focused Healing Homes Coordinator to support the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of Healing Homes initiatives. Reporting to the Nursing Projects Coordinator, the Healing Homes Coordinator plays an important part in supporting trauma healing, wellness planning, community engagement, and access to culturally safe care and services.

Working closely with Leq’á:mel Xwélmexw (People), leadership, Knowledge Keepers, partner organizations, and the healthcare team, the Healing Homes Coordinator helps ensure programs and services are organized, accessible, culturally grounded, and aligned with community priorities.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of Healing Homes programs and initiatives, including community engagement strategies that advance Healing Homes and broader health initiatives.
  • Assist community leads, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and leadership in identifying and prioritizing trauma-specific therapies, cultural supports, and traditional healing practices.
  • Support the development of a culturally grounded service delivery model for Healing Homes programs.
  • Participate in the development of program plans, service pathways, budgets, workplans, implementation tools, and collaborative wellness plans that improve access to Healing Homes services.
  • Support research for programs and initiatives and prepare reports and materials for community presentations.
  • Develop, maintain, and update resource lists, service directories, program information, and community contacts.
  • Collaborate with other Healing Homes Coordinators, including those at Sts’ailes, Sq’éwlets, the First Nations Health Authority, and other regional and community partners, to support coordinated service delivery and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Participate in community events, traditional ceremonies, land-based healing activities, and other wellness initiatives that support Healing Homes initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team on duties that align with Healing Homes initiatives.
  • Ensure program administration and communications are organized, responsive, and aligned with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Recent relevant experience, typically 2 to 3 years, working with First Nations individuals, communities, or organizations on issues related to health, healing, and wellness.
  • Recent and significant experience creating events and programs and providing coordination or program support, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience supporting traditional ceremonies, cultural practices, and culturally safe approaches to healing and wellness.
  • Post-secondary education at a minimum certificate level in a related field, such as Community Support, Mental Health, Wellness and Addictions, Indigenous Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid FoodSafe and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain these certifications.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • An acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture, protocols, wellness, traditions, and community practices.
  • Knowledge of community engagement, community development, and culturally grounded service planning.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, trauma-specific modalities, and culturally appropriate healing approaches.
  • Awareness of First Nations health systems, provincial and federal health systems, and mental health service needs affecting First Nations communities.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous and community-based service agencies and local resources.
  • Strong communication, organization, planning, research, and collaboration skills.
  • The ability to build respectful relationships with Leq’á:mel Xwélmexw (People), leadership, service providers, and partner organizations.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Working Conditions

  • Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Flexibility is required, as evening and weekend work may be needed to support community engagement, planned events, and crisis response supports.
  • Hours of work may be adjusted or increased based on operational needs, with as much advance notice as possible.
  • Travel may be required for meetings, training, and collaboration with partners and service providers.
  • This position requires on-site attendance. Remote work is not available, and candidates must live within a reasonable daily commuting distance of the workplace.
