Available to: Any member of an Indigenous group partnered with International SOS Canada who is looking to advance their career in the Medical, Fire/Rescue, or Health & Wellness related industry.

International SOS has a Tuition Financial Support Program (TFSP) for which you may apply. This program provides up to $5,000 for any member of an Indigenous group partnered with International SOS. It is specific to any member wanting to enhance their skills in medical, fire and rescue, or health & wellness field related programs. Eligibility for this program is subject to program provisions and approval.

The purpose of this program is to support education and training that enables the member to obtain a higher level of proficiency in their current professional field and/or to prepare them for future professional and personal growth. Award will depend on the relevance of the program to the member’s current or potential future role.  In addition to the financial aspect, they will be assisting with placement and mentorship after the member is completed their program if the member desires to be employed with International SOS.

International SOS believes that helping to build capacity within their Indigenous Partner Communities through education and training of Community members exemplifies the pride and privilege they feel while working together to achieve more together.

Courses covered under this program include, but are not limited to: Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Paramedic, Fire Training, and other job-related professional certifications in the health, wellness and emergency services industry. It does not cover limited training programs and professional conferences of 1 to 5 days. It also does not cover costs associated with accommodations or travel costs required for taking courses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a member of one of our Indigenous Community Partners. No preference will be given to specific Indigenous
    Partnerships. All submissions will be treated equally in this funding opportunity.
  • Applicant must already be designated in a medical, fire, or health & wellness field. For example: OFA, EMR, LPN, level 1
    Firefighter or higher; entering at least second year university.
  • Applicate can be, but not required to be a current International SOS employee.
  • Winner(s) submission to be posted on our website and provided to our indigenous partners across Canada. Photo inclusion
    will be at the discretion of the winner.
  • To participate in the additional benefit of employment/training with International SOS, certain positions within the
    mentorship program may require employees to obtain site specific prerequisites such as having a valid driver’s license
    and/or pass a drug and alcohol test.
  • Funds will be paid directly to the institution once enrollment is confirmed and will expire if not claimed within 1 year from
    award. If the winner decides to drop out, all refunds are to be returned to IntlSOS.
  • Winner will require a community sponsor to be determined after award to assist in supporting the trainee during their
    program and help ensure their success in their chosen program.
