Farm Holdings

Leq’a:mel First Nation purchased 131 acres of land in July 2015 for agri-tourism opportunities. In 2016, we grew a large variety of non GMO vegetables and sold at area farmers markets and initiated a “good food box” program for families to purchase one week of seasonal fresh vegetables. We developed a number of value-added products including three seasonings/rub mixes and a soap and candle line. We are exploring other business development options including deer farming, highland cattle, and other value-added meat and vegetable products. Check out our journey on Facebook @leqamelgarden. We are always looking for more friends!
What we can offer you in 2017 and beyond:

• Contract growing of vegetables delivered weekly to your family, business or community;
• Opportunities to purchase all our products wholesale for your store;
• Opportunities to purchase non timber forest resource and garden products for individual use.

Gas, Store and Restaurant Holdings

We are excited to be building a Gas Station, Store and Restaurant just off the Lougheed Highway, near Deroche. In March 2017, drop in to say hello and fuel up on gas, products from our store or fuel up with a Timmie’s.

Mobile Home Park Holdings

We currently own and operate three trailer parks. While our vacancy rate remains low as our parks are beautifully located and well managed, we’d love to hear from you if you desire a rural lifestyle.

Forestry Holdings

Leq’á:mel was approved for the Forest Tenure Opportunity Agreement. This is for 10 years with a total volume of 91,120 m3. The next steps will be assessing viable areas to submit for a license. Leq’á:mel successfully completed the initial Forest and Range Agreement that was an exciting beginning for the community. The acquired funds are set aside for future economic development and this agreement will add to our abilities for investment.
